Who I
Work With

I work with people are struggling with the profound. Whether that be profound grief/loss, significant transitions, and those who struggle to know themselves and their place in the world. As people, we can find ourselves going through the motions of life without ever intentionally making meaningful decisions about it. I work with people seeking to have deeper connections to their community and foster social interest.

Practically speaking I work with adults who have had profound loss of any kind (focus on child loss due to personal experience), deep thinkers questioning their place in the world, creatives, and people wanting their profession to align with core values.

About Me

My path into mental health started with studying history and philosophy to become a high school teacher. My love of these subjects began with wanting to understand why people do the things they do in all their nuances. There is always a reason we do what we do, however, often we are unaware of those reasons. Reading and music for me are not just activities that are enjoyable but are ways in which it helps me understand the world and my place in it. Professionally shifting into doing more psychedelic work has combined many aspects of my personal and professional life into something that feels deeply cohesive. The use of music, art, philosophy, and teaching are not only passions but have become cornerstones in my work with people.

In the past five-years I have personally experienced several significant losses and have wanted to use that lived experience to help others navigate their way through it. As such I have noticed a deep-rooted desire to focus clinically on grief and loss. Experiencing these losses has reshaped how I engage with the world and have a desire to transition that experience into something helpful for others.

How I Work

I believe one of the most distinguishing aspects in how I work with people are philosophic questions I pose. Questions that provoke a deeper level thought on the metacognition that we all have. Understanding our beliefs, values, and principles that drive our actions I believe creates openings to make new decisions rather than operating on status quo. Philosophy, music, and creativity are cornerstones in my work with people from a place of compassion and genuine curiosity. I show up in my professional work in the same ways I do in my personal life. The relationship and connection with the individuals I work are crucial to growth and development.

Where I’m Not a Fit

1. My style of work with people does not work if they are seeking to be told what to do and how to live their life.

2. Because I tend to use philosophy a great deal in my work with people, I am not a fit if
people do not have a desire to examine their metacognition.

Outside the Practice

As cliché as it sounds outside of work my family and friends are deeply important to me and my quality of life. As someone who has experienced profound loss in the past several years, being connected to loved ones gives my life meaning and purpose.

The activities I enjoy are listening to or seeing music, playing poker, and discussing philosophy. Hobbies that involve thinking and reflecting is what I have always been drawn to.

Rabbit Holes

Poker strategy – I have played poker for nearly 20 years and absolutely love watching, reading and learning new strategies

Biographies – I love learning about people throughout history. It is not always specific to certain people or topics, but in general learning about how others live their life

History – specifically Latin American history and medieval Europe are endlessly fascinating to me

Influences

Albert Camus – Philosopher of my favorite book The Stranger and The Myth of Sisyphus

Dallas Green – Musician from two of my favorite bands (Alexisonfire & City and Colour). Songs: Alexisonfire: Accidents, Where No One Knows; City and Colour: Difficult Love and The Death of Me

Fred Rogers – Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and his book The World According to Fred Rogers

Something People Wouldn’t Guess About Me

Typically people do not expect that I play poker. I enjoy playing tournaments when I have time but have focused on playing cash games for the past 20 years and often play weekly.
